Founded by two High-School students, we are dedicated to connecting homeless in need to sponsors who care, with the end goal of fostering unique, long-lasting relationships, helping build a better San Diego. Our tiered reward system allows you to be well aware of what your money is going towards, and by following up on the tangible impact you have had on their life.

Adam Christopher

Adam Christopher is a man who values freedom and love above all else. He believes that everyone has a God-Given right to be free, and to live their life in a way that brings them happiness. However, in that pursuit of happiness, he has experienced numerous difficulties. Occasionally Mr. Christopher has found himself woken up in the middle of the night and forced to move to avoid being arrested, and his situation is made even worse by the harmful effects of cigarettes. He also spoke to us about how Jesus and his teachings are central to his life, and while God may bring about death and destruction, Jesus has done nothing but love us. Mr. Christopher impressed upon us the importance of loving others, but explained how, “In order to love others, you must first love yourself.” He is a champion of knowledge and of Women’s Rights, describing to us how because we came from Women, we (as men) must always respect Women, as we are all made from the same body and the same flesh. As we departed, he gave us one more piece of advice, to open up the bible, flip to a page, and start reading. Once we have done that, he tells us, we will learn how to love others, and in turn, learn how to experience true happiness. If you wish to speak to him or help him out, we spoke to him on the corner of Garnet Ave. and Soledad Mountain Rd. on February 18th.
Michael

From Michigan, to Washington D.C, and eventually, to California, Michael has been through a plethora of experiences and has plenty of wisdom to share. At 16, he was working in the dietary department at General Motors as a janitor; he eventually saved up enough money to purchase a car, and pay for college so he could pursue higher education, however he eventually ended up on the streets. After living on the streets for a while, a Homeless Advocacy Group brought him to Washington DC to protest against the conditions that the Homeless were living in. He met with President Bill Clinton, protested for what he believed in, and saw many around him get arrested during the protests. At this point, all he had to his name was a warm place to sit and a cup of coffee, so after riding a bus all the way back to Michigan, he eventually made his way over to San Diego and found purpose in art. Michael enjoys capturing the world around him with art, and frequently draws plants and animals that he observes on his signs, which bear the mantra, “homeless NOT helpless.” His advice to anybody who sees a homeless individual is to simply interact with them, and in more cases than not, they would be delighted to talk about their individual story. In fact, he is recording his interactions with other homeless individuals and encapsulating them in a collection of biographies. We met Michael on the 18th of February at the crosswalk between Soledad Mountain Rd and Garnet Ave.
